Ranelagh Triangles
Our submission to the 2010 Ranelagh Arts Festival was based on lighting. Areas of the city previously
considered ugly, such as underpasses and bridge soffits, can in fact be very
beautiful when lit imaginatively. Many art installations in the United States
make use of innovative lighting techniques to create art in unexpected public
locations. Taking the theme of Ranelagh and triangles we have proposed such a transformation of the two LUAS bridge soffits on either side of Ranelagh Triangle. The lighting technology to achieve the effect is relatively new fibre-optic lighting as illustrated above and used on the Sheik Zayed Mosque in the United Arab Emirates.
